St Olaf’s 150th Anniversary

St Olaf’s is celebrating its 150th Anniversary this year. An Episcopalian Mission had been established in Kirkwall in 1871, meeting in the Kirkwall Volunteers’ drill hall building, and money began to be raised for a dedicated church to be built. The foundation stone was laid in November 1874 and the new church was consecrated on St Olaf’s Day (29th July) 1876.

Following the Eucharist, there will be time to take a trip down memory lane and then a shared lunch. We’d love to welcome as many members as possible – past and present – at this service.

Ecumenical Reading Group

This September, we’re continuing the ecumenical reading group for anyone who is looking for a fresh voice and inspiration to step out in faith. We’ll be reading Rewilding the Church by Steve Aisthorpe— which encourages Christians to be led by the Spirit and find a capacity way beyond imagination.

Please contact Rev Julia Meason at JMeason@churchofscotland.org.uk or Stuart Little at sglittle123@gmail.com, if you’d like to be part of the group. We’ll start on the 23rd of September at 7 pm and will be meeting fortnightly on Zoom.
